QUICK OVERVIEW

“SMALL MOVEMENT” is a competitive grant based on the interactive and hybrid annual festival platform for the gradual improvement of valuable urban spaces. Aiming to revitalize and redevelop the potential spots in packed and overpopulated cities and turn them into profitable areas, in favour of local communities, small businesses and the mental health of citizens.

Creating a simultaneous educational-practical framework for having human urban spaces that will be implemented with public contributions. Focusing on the revitalization of old and or dead urban spaces and leading them to the formation of the flagship projects is the aim of the “SMALL MOVEMENTS” foundation.

THE PLAN THAT WE NEED FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT should be imagined in the artists mind at first

WHERE THE IDEA CAME FROM

I was a lecturer in the university and I had been teaching urban restoration and rehabilitation for architecture students.
All of a sudden a student asked me what is the aim of all these theoretical debates while there is no qualified urban space in the city. What are the benefits of all these papers and tasks we are doing for making dream plans? No improvement would be after all these attempts.
The question changed my way in my professional life.
I went to the restoration and renewal organization of Ahvaz municipality and asked them to assign a place for the realization of the all-academic debates on urban issues. It was something like urban lab projects but it hadn’t any title at that moment. I became the consultant of this organization in 2010.
They showed me unprivileged and underutilized urban lots on the Karon riverfront. There was a site for reorganizing the riverfront of the Karon river with no plan. The abandoned fields with no tree and any facilitation.
